Hi, I'm crypto -- [livejournal.com profile] cryptoxin on LiveJournal.

You may remember me from such LJ posts as:

I, Robot: A Self-Help Guide for When You Discover That You're Actually a Cylon, Terminator, or Life-Model Decoy (or the follow-up post, Humanity's Just Not That Into You -- But That's No Excuse for Genocide!)

Hey, Far Be It for Me to Say Your Kink Is Not Okay, But -- Seriously, Dude, You're Starting to Freak Me Out

You'll Never Write Meta In This Town Again (concerning the fallout after the above post on kinks was linked by metafandom and fandom_wank)

(She Had to Leave) Los Angeles! -- my RPF WIP, where the ghost of Simone de Beauvoir sends Heidi Montag on a quest to form an all-celebrity feminist girl group to counter The Pussycat Dolls.

At any rate, I'll probably start cross-posting here and on LJ next month -- until then, I'll keep posting on LJ while I look around here.

I figured that I'll still be cryptoxin on LJ -- so you can think of crypto as a shortened nickname. To me, it feels a bit like getting a long-overdue haircut. ;)

But I've already had some pangs of regret, when I realized that I wouldn't be able to easily search my Dreamwidth posts by entering [user name] [keyword] as search terms on Google. :(

I use ljArchive both to save a backup of my various Ljs but also because it allows me to search, locally, my posts (and comments). I recommend this method!

Oh, I didn't know it was searchable, thanks! I've never used it because, um, it felt kind of weird to think of my LJ ephemera as warranting an archive/backup strategy. Like, I'd worry that I'd have to start taking my grammar and punctuation much more seriously -- to say nothing of the actual topics & substance of my posts -- if I started thinking about permanence!

I must have missed the poll, because I totally would have voted (and lobbied heavily) for error_catastrophe.

Heh. I posted under friendslock a couple days ago on LJ. It was mentioned that error_catastrophe might be too long and prone to misspelling, but I'm kind of fond of it.

Can I reply with an OpenID identity? Look! I can! Yay! Hello.

Hey there! I'd never used OpenID before, but it turns out to be ridiculously easy.

I know. It's so easy it took me half an hour to figure out that I don't actually have to do anything!
