Happy New Year!

I've been laid up in bed with a nasty cold for a couple of days, so I rang in the new year by marathoning the first few episodes of MTV's new reality show, Jersey Shore.

So what are the chances that people will start writing Jersey Shore RPF? Anyone?

Actually, I was just sitting here this morning thinking, "You know, the great thing about fandom is that no matter how trashy my current fixation, someone else will always be watching something trashier."

And you've just demonstrated that. *GRIN*

I'm rewatching the show I was really fannish about when I was thirteen! It is SO AWESOME. Also quite trashy!

And I'd forgotten about how in the late 1980s, network television that aired at 8 p.m. was actually age-appropriate for children. So I am thinking about showing it to the kids.

*snerk* Yes, yes, you are old, Father William.

I was growing up in LA. There was a lot of TV involved.

Incidentally, when I said sick of hearing about it, I didn't mean from you. If you post a lot about it, I will probably just skim, but I won't care much. But I am so sick of hearing about it from the news media and their freak outs over the word "guido".

*snerk* So is Snooki Caroline Bingley or Lydia Bennet?

...okay, so I may have watched half an episode once. I was house sitting and had cable for the first time in years.

Heh. That could work.

I am not writing it. Really. I'm not. Make the plot bunnies stop chasing me! *runs*

You should have a ticky for "Where's My Cheeseballs?"

There was no option that fit! Since I don't really pay attention to these sorts of things, I have only actually heard of it once, in an article about how some Italian Americans are against the show.

That subculture = large percentage of my students' demographic

Therefore, I watched one episode and then stopped because it was too much like work.

You put in that one about fearing for your brain cells just for me to ticky, didn't you? Because you know I think that Snooki and Sartre will get into a fight, and Sartre does not have sharpened nails nor indeed a can of hairspray to defend himself with.

(As I only know about the show from Gawker, I cannot guess whether aforementioned citizen of the Garden State pronounces her "name" to rhyme with bookie or to rhyme with kooky. I presume the latter?)
