I hardly ever read fanfic these days, but skimming the comments to this post by hradzka gave me a sudden longing for an Aeryn Sun/Bruce Wayne barista AU that can never be.

That's almost as sad as when I realized that the staff at the Starbucks near my office, no matter how friendly and funny they were, would never quite live up to the standards set by Coffee Prince and so I shouldn't start inventing elaborate backstories and love triangles for them.

Exactly!

(I'm thinking that the customers -- already distracted wondering why Aeryn always wears leather under her green apron and doesn't engage in small talk -- would also find Bruce's habitual growl and grim stare off-putting. But management is too intimidated by them to address it directly, so they instead get sent off to a customer service training seminar in some kind of hotel meeting space. Which for some reason gets attacked by terrorists, leaving them no choice but to Team Up To Fight Crime.)
