To stave off slipping back into lurker mode, I was going to do a "hits and misses" for my last week's worth of media consumption, but I'll just focus on the hits because the misses weren't interesting enough to mention.

Wrestling: WWE RAW had a surprisingly strong episode last Monday night. For me, the best segment* was the "match" between Randy Orton and his protege Ted DiBiase, who had outraged Orton by pinning him the previous week in a tag team match. Before this match, Orton interrupted DiBiase doing an interview and laid down the law: "You will not fight back! You will finally show me the respect I deserve." This set up a taut encounter in the ring -- Orton always brings the intensity, but DiBiase did a great job selling his inner turmoil as Orton taunted him between uppercuts until DiBiase finally snapped and shoved Orton. It was an electric moment, but DiBiase backed down and Orton took him out with an RKO. Excellent storytelling and performances, laying the groundwork for DiBiase to turn on his mentor in the future.

* Honorable mention is the video package -- essentially a vid -- that WWE's been airing on its shows recapping the Randy Orton-John Cena feud, set to the same song that Harper's Island used for its most only memorable scene (the big one with the blond "designated babe" bridesmaid and her British boyfriend), which is not helping me refrain from semi-shipping Orton/Cena.

Korean drama: Based on the positive reviews from [personal profile] rilina  and [personal profile] thistleingrey  I decided to check out You're Beautiful, where a novice nun has to pose as her twin brother and join a boy band/idol group. Complications, hilarity, and romance ensue! It's very fun and well-done -- six episodes have aired so far.

The City: Still enjoyable, though last week's episode started to drift away from the "young women trying to make their way in the cutthroat NYC fashion industry" focus by introducing a new love interest for Whitney -- worse, some stereotypical upper crust guy from Greenwich, CT. And previews show her having dinner this week with her even more boring male model ex from last season. Get back to work, Whitney, this is no time to be dating! Still, I was cheered up by these videos on MTV's website featuring Kelly Cutrone in all her trademark no-BS bluntness.

The Office: Last week's episode followed up on a plot point introduced in the recent wedding episode that I wasn't expecting much from, and knocked it out of the park with some great -- and unexpected -- stuff from Pam and Michael. Really strong performances, capitalizing on the years of established history between these characters and the writers not taking the obvious route for easy laughs.

SYTYCD Netherlands: Would you believe me if I told you that the best routine on last week's Top 16 show was the quickstep? Beautiful Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers-inspired choreography from season 1 judge Euvgenia Parakhina, and beautifully danced.

The Nicholas Brothers: In her recent post on Glee, [personal profile] hazelk  included a YouTube clip of their classic Stormy Weather dance number, which led me to the following tribute vid set to Kanye's "Stronger" -- perfect song choice, amazing dancers:

Your posts sold me on checking it out, so thank you! And I can't wait for more episodes either. At first I was wondering how they'd spin the premise out into a full series, but they've been doing everything right so far.
